Description
By Edward Woodroof
This composition was written to commemorate the 2011 official closing of historic Fort Monroe, located in Hampton Virginia.
Although called “Suite” in the title, this composition is in actuality a symphony for band, and is Woodroof’s first symphony.
Each movement, preceded by descriptive prose, musically depicts a different feature of the historic old fort. This challenging composition will engage your audience and musicians both intellectually and emotionally as they journey to the tip of the Virginia “Peninsula” known as Old Point Comfort.
