A native Virginian originally from Hampton, Edward Woodroof received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music ( now Shenandoah University) in 1973. While beginning his career teaching band in the Newport News school division, he simultaneously continued his education, receiving the Master of Music Education degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1975. He has taught music and directed bands at the elementary, middle and high school level, and served as brass and woodwind coach for the Peninsula Youth Orchestra. Over time Mr. Woodroof has composed and arranged for many ensemble types, and has enjoyed “writing the kind of music I wanted to write, regardless of commercial concerns”.

Mr. Woodroof lives and works from his rural retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.
